Migration to OpenOffice.org - a free office package

OpenOffice.org 2.0 is used by tens of millions throughout the world. Governments and businesses are growing interested in it because it not only is free but because it can be easily learnt, supported, and customized.

This presentation will examine strategies for migration to OpenOffice.org, as well as ways in which one can extend the application's power and functionality. The presentation is recommended for all interested in OpenOffice.org, open source, and the future of software.

Louis Suarez-Potts, PhD, has been the Community Manager for OpenOffice.org more or less since its inception and is the Chair of the OpenOffice.org Community Council. He is also the lead and co-lead of several projects on OpenOffice.org, including the Native Lang Confederation. The Senior Community Development Manager at CollabNet, which hosts OpenOffice.org, Suarez-Potts has been involved in the development of open source community management as a profession since 2001. He is currently working on a monograph on the relation of open-source projects and the public sphere.
